Common ants are an utter nuisance to the food and beverage industry as well as every single household out there. They come in a swarm and spoil all the tasty food sources, and they reproduce at a horrifyingly fast rate at massive numbers; kill all the ants you see today, and more will magically appear to take their place tomorrow. An ant colony can contain up to 500, 000 ants, and the minute size of a common ant's body enables it to easily access a building through even the tiniest crack on the wall.
Compared to other types of pests, ants are extremely difficult to control. In fact, it is impossible, and not particularly wise, to eliminate all of them as they have proven to be useful in many ways. Ants help to control the populations of other insects, aerate the soil and they can even disintegrate certain organic matter; ergo, the best way to deal with an ant infestation is to control it and not completely eliminate them.
